You: ...
Me: Hey there, it's Tim Holman here... a million (13ish?) years ago I made The Useless Web out of some love for many of the insane and creative websites that I had found online. Now, as they say, the times are a-changggetting-pretty-weird, and out of some other weird nostalgic hole I started digging up old websites that are still around from the old old days, and thought I'd make a quick sister site to showcase them.
You: Why?
Me: Well, I just said, but I guess on top of that, while maintaining The Useless Web, a sad reality that I have experienced on a monthly-ish basis, is that the sites go down, are put up for auction, and quickly snapped up by some spam bot. This woke me in many ways to the reality that there are honestly not that many old relics left running. So why not document a few.
You: Ironic you used newer tech right?
Me: Yeah, I know. I did keep the marquee elements in there though, and surprisingly they still work.
You: Where'd you build this list?
Me: Mostly collecting. Sometimes I'm like damn, is this site old or just a modern recreation of an old site?
You: There's so many old sites that have just had redesigns!
Me: Ya, thats kinda the point. These OG's weathered the test of perpetual-redesign-hell.
You: You know there's others like this in the internet archive
Me: Ya, honestly it's a better resource to experience those days, I just wanted to document and start to track what is still ALIVE.
You: I got one for you, can I submit?
Me: Send it to my email, which you can find on my website.
